Master's of Public Administration
Management
Management is a core competency that involves planning, organizing, directing, and controlling resources (including people, materials, and finances) to achieve organizational goals. Effective management involves the ability to identify and prioritize objectives, allocate resources effectively, and monitor progress towards goals.
To be a successful manager, one must possess a range of competencies, including strategic thinking, decision-making, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Managers must also be able to motivate and inspire their team members, provide constructive feedback, and promote a positive and productive work environment.
The following demonstrates my understanding of same.
Personal Leadership Statement
In my personal leadership statement, I describe my beliefs about leadership in public and nonprofit organizations. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of inspiring and empowering team members to work towards a common goal and prioritizing the interests of the organization, stakeholders, and constituents. Further, my statement identifies integrity, inclusivity, and teamwork as my guiding principles and states that the transformational leadership theory best fits my vision of leadership. Essentially, I plan to implement actions such as empowering team members to take ownership of their work, setting clear expectations and providing constructive feedback, and promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement to reflect her leadership behavior.
Understanding Public Management
This paper discusses various aspects of public administration management, including nonprofit and for-profit contractors, budgeting approaches, New Public Management, legislative casework, and democratic organizational structures in public schools. In the paper, I express my own opinion on these topics and provides examples to support my arguments. Additionally, I emphasize the importance of compliance with the law and accountability in public administration. Overall, this paper highlights the complexity and diversity of public administration and the need for careful consideration and balance in decision-making.
Human Resources and Public Administration
This paper discusses the differences between human resources management in the public and private sectors, emphasizing the merit system used in the public sector, which aims to hire the most qualified candidates and prevent corruption and fraud. The paper also advocates for the importance of affirmative action, which aims to promote equity and ensure equality for all, particularly for underrepresented and underprivileged groups. Overall, my position supports the use of affirmative action and I cite legal cases to defend it.
